Svegro invests in automated greenhouse

Sweden’s largest grower of fresh herbs, Svegro, is investing in a new greenhouse in Färingsö outside Stockholm. In the new, automated greenhouse, plans are to grow 2.2 million heads of lettuce annually on 2,4 ha, this is about 10% of the Swedish market, excluding iceberg lettuce. Being able to deliver more Swedish-grown lettuce every day, all year round is part of Svegro’s successful path forward.

The project includes a greenhouse, growing equipment, lighting, a sowing machine, a harvesting station, packing equipment, and associated conveyors. Svegro will use a growing system from Green Automation. The growing system is designed and optimized to grow small head lettuces.  Article
