BrightFarms, a national leader in the indoor farming industry, announced the opening of its new greenhouse hub in Yorkville, Illinois. The Illinois facility is the first of three new regional greenhouse operations. The latest technological advances in efficient hydroponic growing are incorporated into these highly efficient operations.
BrightFarms’ commitment to providing more people access to fresh, tasty, clean, and responsibly grown leafy greens is made possible by equipping all three hubs with the most advanced greenhouse technology available. The state-of-the-art facilities all have a fully automated hydroponic growing system from Green Automation. The growing process is automated from start to finish and the leafy greens are grown and harvested without any human hands touching them. To further increase the efficiency of the operations the Yorkville greenhouse is the first facility in the world to start the growing cycle with Green Automation’s germination towers. This innovation both increases the growing capacity of the facility and creates ideal conditions for the seeds to germinate.
BrightFarms announced that with the three new 8-acre facilities the company will increase its growing capability to 150 million pounds of leafy greens per year.
Green Automation is thrilled to be part of BrightFarms’ continued quest to make the freshest, cleanest, and best-tasting lettuce available for a majority of the US population.
